New Energy Technologies

Overview

The focus of the New Energy Technologies Group is on advanced and renewable energy technologies and systems. Current research themes of the group include complex energy networks and distributed energy generation, solar cells, fuel cells and hydrogen, nanotechnology for energy applications, but also innovations, market transformation and technology penetration. Specific topics include flexible nano-solar cells, nano-composites for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells, and energy-sustainable communities.

The group is lead by Professor Peter Lund. Senior Researchers are Dr. Janne Halme and Dr. Kati Miettunen. At present, 7 doctoral students are enrolled in the group and in addition there is a varying number of research assistants working on master’s and bachelor’s theses and special assignments. The group has also international collaboration and hosts visiting researchers on regular basis.

The group is responsible for advanced and renewable energy teaching both on undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels within the Tfy-56 Energy Sciences and provides a specialization package (major and minor subject) in new energy technologies.
