Fission and Radiation Physics Group
Overview
Fission research group is actively part of fourth generation nuclear reactor research. The research concentrates on new reactor designs and thorium fuel cycle. Essentially all research is computational using and developing codes such as PSG2 / Serpent, MonteBurns, APROS and FEMAXI.
In radiation physics our interests are in the computational methods of gamma-ray spectrometry and identification. The group is the birthplace of SAMPO codes for spectrum analysis and the expert system SHAMAN for subsequent radionuclide identification and quantification. The group collaborates with the CMS experiment at CERN.
Fission group collaborates with European Nuclear Education Network and Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform. There is also natural collaboration with the Fusion group and not only because of common premises.
