Open Positions

Doctoral Candidate Position in Metal Nanocluster Synthesis

A doctoral candidate position is available to perform forefront multidisciplinary research in the field of few-atom fluorescent metal nanoclusters. Fluorescent metal nanoclusters are a novel type of nanoparticles with excellent luminescence properties and size of less than one nm (only few atoms).

This position is at Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland (Prof. Robin Ras, http://physics.aalto.fi/smw ). Salary is based on the university salary scheme.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • conduct research on chemical synthesis of metal nanoclusters and nanoparticles, their in-depth characterization using spectroscopies, microscopies, and their application in technologies,
  • publish research outcomes in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and
  • work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.

REQUIREMENTS AND DETAILS

Are you a talented, creative and ambitious researcher? Do you want to work on an exciting, innovative and very challenging project? We want you to be part of our interdisciplinary team!

As a successful applicant, you should be creative and highly motivated in experimental science and have a background in chemistry, materials science, physics or a closely related field. Prior expertise in chemical synthesis, particle research, spectroscopy, and electron microscopy is highly appreciated.
