Calorimetry is an important tool in investigating thermodynamics. Especially for a small mesoscopic system, fast and sensitive calorimeters which are able to measure a packet of energy transferred within the system are necessary. In order to enhance the energy resolution of calorimeter, heat conductance and heat capacity of the absorber of calorimeter need to be low. Here, we will present measurements of the heat conductance and heat capacities of evaporated normal metal thin films. We find an anomalously high heat capacity for Au, Ag and Cu films at low temperature. The values measured for the three metals are about one order of magnitude higher than those calculated from the standard free electron model. And at last, I will shows some experiment results by replacing normal metal films with InAs semiconductor nanowires.
